I love these Lucky Seven Challenges! Not only do I get to share a little of Infinite Loss with you, (another perk being self-published), but I get to perfect seven lines of my book before revisions! Nothing polishes a few sentences up like releasing them for everyone to see. I’ve done a Lucky Seven before with this same work-in-progress, but it specified page 77, so it’s all good!

Thank you to Delia, from Postcards From Asia, for nominating me 🙂 The rules are: you must go to the 7th page of your current work-in-progress, go down 7 lines, and post the following seven lines. The following is from the first draft of my third novel in the series, Infinite Loss.

Frantic yelps erupt within the camp and Father springs, yelping from our teepee. Mother grabs for my little brother in the papoose and takes me by the hand to flee with the other women and children. Everyone runs and screams—all except for Apawi, who lies down on his buffalo blanket in the center of camp for us all to see and sleeps soundly. In the light of the full moon, the men grab their lances and bows, jump on their ponies, and hurry to make the formation to protect the camp—the formation of wild geese. Father whoops and leads the group, taking the very top of the line. They all stand their horses still as the thundering sound comes closer and closer, shaking every living thing awake and running for cover. Dark shapes charge toward us, with a cloud of dust reaching high into the air above them.

Well, that’s all I’ve got to share with you for now. I would love to see what everyone is up to—so to all of my followers, consider yourself tagged! Put a link to your Lucky Seven Post below so we can all take a look!

I never get tired of being nominated for these awards. I love the colorful badges and nominating more fantastic bloggers that I follow.

Thank you so much, Writerlious, for the nomination. Erin truly has a versatile blog. She fluctuates between writing tips, agent spotlights, fun personal posts, and even flash fiction challenges! Be sure to check her out (plus, she gives away blog nominations daily if you’re looking for one…haha).

You know the drill. Here are the rules:

1.) Thank the person who nominated you. (^)

2.) Share seven things about yourself:

* I am NOT a morning person. I’m more like a reptile that crawls out and needs to warm up a bit before moving.

* I can read palms 🙂

*My first celebrity crush was on the fox from the Disney Robin Hood movie (I know…disturbing…but he is pretty cute).

* I went to the library everyday at our summer vacation house and read every book in the children’s library. (I should probably note that I was a child when I did this or it sounds pathetic.)

* I was a tomboy when I was little. Actually, I’m still slightly tomboyish.

* I was a vegetarian during college and gained 15 pounds since I ate mostly Paul Newman’s chocolate bars and organic chips. (I can’t make this one sound better…it’s definitely pathetic)

* I love using children’s parties as an excuse for dressing up in embarrassing costumes.

3.) Nominate Seven Other Versatile Bloggers (My favorite part!):

*Laura Stanfill

*Diane Carlisle

*Steve Vernon (Not the manly award you wanted, but hopefully I won’t get nominated for that:))

*Yesenia Vargas

*J. L. Mbewe

*RIEDEL FASCINATION

*RC Gale (a brand new follower—yay!—and I checked out his blog and it’s ah-mazing!)

I’ll be checking in to see who everyone nominates. I find the best blogs through these awards!

Thanks again, Erin!

After returning from a fantastic family trip on the Vineyard, I came back to my very first blog award from my crazy talented crit partner Bethany Yeager. You rock Bethany!

“The goal of the award is to spotlight up and coming bloggers who currently have less than 200 followers. The rules of the award are:
1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
2. Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
4. Have faith that your followers will spread the love to other bloggers.
5. And most of all – have bloggity-blog fun!”

So the fun part is deciding which five blogs I get to pass them onto! Well, if Bethany hadn’t already received the award I would have had no question to list hers as number one–although her following is growing daily and she’ll be over 200 followers in no time.

Well, on to the nominating:

1) Brigid Kemmerer is slated to launch her debut novel Elemental in 2012 and she maintains a fantastic blog discussing the trials and triumphs of writing and publishing. She was so warm and helpful in telling me how to find a terrific beta partner (and I found Bethany who has been a gem!). Her YA series sounds fascinating and I have no doubt it will be a success. VIBE: Catching up with a good writing buddy.

2) Wicked & Tricksy a spectacular blog written by four stellar women. Their posts focus on speculative fiction but discuss the craft of writing in a fun and entertaining way. Since each writer posts once a week and a guest blogger posts on Fridays, you get interesting quality blogs everyday of the week! VIBE: Hanging out with a great group of gals outside writing workshop.

3) SaraFlower’s Blog is an upbeat and honest blog following a writer on her road to publishing. Her posts are refreshing and I always look forward to her original point of view. She was one of my first followers on my blog and I instantly subscribed to hers after reading a few of her posts. VIBE: Reading someone’s writing journal.

4) The Story Scribbler is a new blog from an aspiring writer that has intriguing tips on improving writing, writing life in general, and insightful book reviews. VIBE: Feels like you’ve just sat down with a good friend with a cup of coffee in the morning.

5) Logically is a another new blog following the journey of a writer on the verge of beginning her career. Her blog discusses her challenges as a writer as well as recommends various YA novels she falls in love with. I love her daydreaming, eccentric style, and every sentence she writes broadens your imagination. VIBE: Get inside a young fantasy writer’s head for a spell.

Please look into these writers in all stages of publishing. They are not only talented but also have something unique to contribute.

Thanks again for the award Bethany!
